After taking a week off (sometimes, you just gotta take a break), I’m back to working on the foursome of quilts for my nine-patch book.
This is one of 38 nine-patch blocks that are part of the third quilt, the one called winter. It’s the only block with a red square.
The inspiration for this came from a comment made by my sister-in-law Sandi. I think she has a wonderful sense of color, and I’ve always admired the way she designs the things on the inside of her home.
So it was something of a shock, considering how long we’ve known one another, to hear her talk about the fact that most of her clothes are either black or white.
“In my closet,” she joked, “gray is a color.”
Now, Sandi always has a great accessory on—a pin, a scarf, a hat—so that’s why where will be only one red square in this whole quilt while the rest of the squares are black and white or gray. It’s an accessory.
I’m going to be interested to see what I think of this idea once it’s done.
