Now that my fifth Carding novel is done, and planning for a new novel is underway, it’s time to launch my new series for this space. Tiny Curiosities has multiple origins. The first is my love of the details of life, recorded in my photographs, artwork, and what comes home with me from a walk in the woods (twigs, leaves, rocks, lichen).

The second inspiration came via the Old Farmers Almanac. If you spend time with this quirky periodical, you’ll know it’s full of short stories, gardening information, and a 14-month calendar that includes the phases of the moon, sunrise and sunset times, a list of visible planets, notable holidays, tide times, and at the right-hand side of the right-hand page, a very short commentary on the month at hand.
Those short essays run between 200 and 225 words, a number that’s important to a writer. Something that size takes less than 5 minutes to read, and it can lead to a smile or a moment of “I never thought of that.”
That’s my goal–short, thoughtful, positive moments on a Monday morning
Tiny Curiosities. Should be a good way to start the week, eh?
(And that was 200 words!)
