Carding Chronicles

A Shel Silverstein Poem Because It’s a Rainy Monday

April 23, 2012 Sonja Hakala Leave a comment
from Falling Up, copyright Shel Silverstein, 1996

Dancin’ in the Rain

So what if it drizzles
And dribbles and drips?
I’ll splash in the garden,
I’ll dance on the roof..
Let it rain on my skin,
It can’t get in—
I’m waterproof.

Shel Silverstein is a perennial favorite of mine because he made poetry fun.

Carding, Vermont is

…a good-sized town in the Green Mountain state with a busy Main Street that circles around a common that’s crisscrossed with walking paths and dotted with lots of trees. There’s a bandstand at one end that hosts concerts in summer and the locals build a skating rink for winter.

Carding is the creation of author Sonja Hakala who lives on a river in Vermont. You can read about Carding in her novels and the short stories that appear here every Monday.
